When two favourite stars from early noughties teen TV find love in real life, it's bound to be a great thing.

And through some rare quotes Adam Brody and Leighton Meester have confirmed that, yes, it is.

Brody famously played Seth Cohen in The OC while Meester was best known as Gossip Girl's Blair Waldorf.

The two starred back-to-back in two of the most popular teen dramas in the noughties. Brody, along with Rachel Bilson, Mischa Barton and Ben McKenzie starred in The OC from 2003 to 2007. Meester then arrived as part of the lead cast of Gossip Girl - chronicling the 'lives of Manhattan's elite' along with Blake Lively, Ed Westwick, Penn Badgley and Chase Crawford in 2007 until the show's final season in 2012.

Despite fan's thirst for comments, posts and quotes about two of their favourite TV stars in an IRL relationship together, the couple are notoriously private opening up only on the rare occasion about family life together and attending Hollywood events together sporadically.

How did Leighton Meester and Adam Brody meet?

It's been widely reported that Meester and Brody met while working together on the 2011 film The Oranges, but appearing on Anna Farris' Unqualified podcast in March 2021, the Promising Young Woman actor confirmed the origins of their relationship.

Confirming - to the joy of many fans - that the first time the couple met was as The OC was finishing and Gossip Girl started, as they were mutual friends of the show's producer Josh Schwartz. Brody explained that both casts were introduced to each other at a Deli in Los Angeles and then he 'bumped into' Meester a few more times over the years before they were cast in The Oranges together.

'I was seeing someone together at the time, we worked together... then we didn't get together until about a year after that movie when I was single,' confirmed Brody.

Are Leighton Meester and Adam Brody married?

The couple have been married for seven years and last summer, they welcomed their second child together, a son - who Brody adorably referred to as a 'dream boy' when confirming his arrival. They are already parents to elder daughter Arlo Day.

What have Leighton Meester and Adam Brody said about each other?

March 2021: Adam Brody shares what he loves the most about Leighton Meester

While appearing on the Unqualified podcast, Brody revealed that his preconception of his future wife when they met was far from the truth as he began to get to know her.

'I was very attracted to her... she's a heavenly creature but I had no idea whether she was a good person or not and in fact probably assumed she probably wasn't for the first handful of years that I didn't know her just because, I don't know, Gossip Girl?'

Brody continued to say 'so yeah I think she was gorgeous' before adding that when they did The Oranges there was 'chemistry' and he began to actually get to know her, dispelling his previous misconceptions.

'I came to find out that she's literally Joan of Arc,' Brody gushed. 'She's the strongest, best person I know. She's my moral compass and north star and I just can't say enough good things about her character. She's the kind of person where even as a four-year-old she would have been perfect. Nobody has a bad thing to say about her. She's never been rude to a single person in her life.'

December 2020: Adam Brody says whether her and Leighton Meester will watch the Gossip Girl reboot

WSJ Magazine interviewed Meester's husband Adam Brody asking about his daily routine and also checked in on whether the couple will be watching the HBO Max reboot.

'I highly doubt we’ll watch it front to back,' the 41-year-old admitted. 'I don’t think we’re the audience, but I’m sure we’ll dip our toes in.'

We can work with that!

Brody also gave a glimpse of Autumn life in lockdown in the Brody-Meester household saying that while the couple had gotten very into The Crown, during the US election Brody found himself getting very irate until his wife came to his aid by limiting his time on Twitter.

'My wife put a 30-minute time limit on Twitter and my life has changed,' he explained. 'I don’t know if I could have concentrated on anything else pre-election anyway, but post-election, I was like, I don’t f***ing need to know what Ted Cruz just said. I can’t let that infuriate me 24 hours a day. [So] I’m back to reading books and I felt my blood pressure lower instantly—I feel a new sense of calm and accomplishment.'

October 2020: Adam Brody on the 'unique experience' he and Leighton Meester share

In an interview with People, Brody spoke of the 'unique experience' the couple share given their history of fronting cult teen TV shows and rocketing to huge levels of fame in their early twenties, which has translated into a strong bond between them.

'There's a lot of similarities there,' he told the magazine. 'It's nice to be able to have such a specific, unique experience [in common].

'To have such a truly unique and specific experience and then have your partner have had the same thing...it's pretty remarkable.'

April 2020: Leighton Meester opens up about life at home with Adam Brody and their family

During the first wave of Covid-19 lockdowns in April 2020, Meester appeared on an Instagram Live where she opened up about her recent birthday celebrations which she spent housebound - naturally - with her husband and daughter.

'I wore a sheet mask for, like, 10 minutes. I wanted to be with my family, which is all I could ask for,' the star said sweetly, adding that the earrings she was wearing on the Live were a gift from her mother in law.

June 2017: Leighton Meester and Blake Lively joke about Blair and Seth

A few years ago the couple were asked if they ever have a 'laugh' about the fan-fascination of two favourite teen characters starting a life together. If we're honest they didn't seem that phased by it or excited by it (which is fair enough as they are actual humans, not their characters we suppose).

'Once a year—once a year, we have a Seth and Blair day, where we dress up,' Brody joked to the reporter.

'It doesn't excite us, I think, because we're just human beings,' said Meester. 'But it's exciting to us that it's exciting to you.'

Bless the couple for indulging us.
