[Updated 8/11/20 10:21 AM]: Addison Rae's beauty company, Item Beauty, is speaking out following claims that they took a slogan from a small business. The other day, a fashion brand called Lonely Ghost accused Addison and Item of using their slogan, "I love you say it back," but Item is denying this in a statement to Seventeen.

"At ITEM, we support, lift up and foster a community of positivity," the statement said. "ITEM has been in development since last year and this phrase was concepted internally when ITEM’s creative director shared that she says 'I love you say it back' to her 4-year-old son each night before going to bed. This was the impetus for the phrase and by placing it on a mirror and some interior packaging, it reflects a daily message of affirmation. We have no plans to place this phrase on apparel."

Item Beauty launches today at itembeauty.com. The launch will include a mascara, liquid eyeshadow, and bronzer palette, along with some other beauty items.

Original story: Addison Rae's new makeup brand, Item Beauty, is launching tomorrow, but the company was recently accused of stealing a catchphrase from a popular small business.

In a pic of the products that will be available from Item Beauty, fans noticed the bronzer and contour palette has the worms "I love you say it back," on the mirror.

Many recognized the phrase as one used by fashion brand Lonely Ghost, which is popular on Instagram. Most recently, Lonely Ghost put it on their collab with Igloo Coolers.

The phrase is on Lonely Ghost's website, in their Instagram bio, and in the Instagram bio of Indy, the brand's owner. Indy spoke out about the situation in comments collected by the TikTokRoom.

She explained that she's "mainly just sad" because Lonely Ghost was so excited when Addison wore a shirt from the brand in some TikTok videos back in May. "For her to to wear out clothes publicly and then use our catchphrase for her makeup line two months later makes me 💔," she wrote.

"I'm sure she wasn't behind the decision and I'm sure the last thing she'd do is intentionally steal something," Indy continued. "But it does deserve to be called out [in my opinion] just because we're not getting any responses from them privately."
