Watch: Adele shows off her American accent in Saturday Night Live promo

Adele has shown off an impressive American accent in a teaser trailer for her upcoming Saturday Night Light hosting debut.

The Hello singer will host the US sketch show at the weekend and previously admitted she was “absolutely terrified”.

She shared a behind the scenes snap of her preparation earlier this week, and the excitement has now been ramped up with a promo clip.

In the teaser, Adele appears alongside SNL’s Kate McKinnon and music act H.E.R, with the trio all sporting masks.

McKinnon pokes fun at Adele’s British tones but then stops and says it was a bad idea.

But Adele then puts on an American accent and drawls: “Oh my God, no worries, girlfriend!”

There has been a lot of speculation over whether Adele might perform on the show and during the promo she did hint that she could be.

While introducing H.E.R as the musical guest, Adele teased: “Or maybe [the musical guest] is me?”

Adele’s hosting debut will come almost 12 years to the day that she first appeared on the programme. That was just before she became massive across the pond, so she has said it feels like a “full circle” moment.

Announcing her hosting slot earlier this month, she said on Instagram: “Bloooooody hellllll.

“I’m so excited about this!! And also absolutely terrified!

“My first ever hosting gig and for SNL of all things!!!!

“I’ve always wanted to do it as a stand alone moment, so that I could roll up my sleeves and fully throw myself into it, but the time has never been right.

“But if there was ever a time for any of us to jump head first into the deep end with our eyes closed and hope for the best it’s 2020 right?

“It’ll be almost 12 years to the day that I first appeared on the show, during an election... which went on to break my career in America, so it feels full circle and I just couldn’t possibly say no!”
