Aerobatic pilots draw Olympic logo in Tokyo sky

Japanese fighter pilots drew the five Olympic rings over Tokyo, in a practice flight ahead of the official start of the Tokyo Olympic Games.

Video obtained by Reuters showed jets from the Japan Air Self-Defense Force (JASDF) aerobatic squadron, nicknamed the Blue Impulse, drawing five rings over mostly clear skies in the capital. The jets were also sighted flying in the vicinity of landmarks like the Tokyo Tower and Olympic Stadium.

On Friday (July 23), the rings will bear the original Olympic colors of blue, yellow, black, green and red, officials from the JASDF said.

Tokyo 2020 has already begun, with softball and soccer competitions underway in the city.
