Aerosmith guitarist endorses Monster home audio line

Joe Perry at Rock in Rio earlier this year

Joe Perry, lead guitarist for Aerosmith, is teaming up with Monster Products to create a line of home audio equipment catered to rock music in particular.

Monster had helped establish the Beats by Dr. Dre line before the brand went to HTC and then to Apple.

Now it's back with a different genre in mind with Joe Perry on board to help develop it.

When rap first started... There was a lot of bass, and that's when people started using subwoofers," Perry told Rolling Stone.

"They've done a great job. But I've found that the classic [rock] songs don't sound as good as they should. You still want the good, tight bass, but you need a little more emphasis on the midrange. Vocals, guitars, all the instruments that we use are in that range."

The product line is "about 90 percent" done with "a few tweaks" to go, in Perry's estimation, with a retail date yet to be annonuced.
