Afghan refugees protest outside UNHCR office in Delhi over demand of their status

New Delhi, Aug 23 (ANI): Afghan refugees staged a protest in front of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) office in Delhi on August 23. They demanded protection from United Nations High Commission. The protesters also requested the Government of India to provide them refugee status/cards as they have been living in India for long. One of the protesters said, “There are more than 21,000 Afghan refugees in India. There is no reason to return to Afghanistan now.”
