Ah Lemak?! BreadTalk launches new Nasi Lemak-inspired bread.

Chef Chen, Champion of the 2015 Mondial du Pain bread baking competition will feature three of his acclaimed breads - “Five Blessings”, “First Love” and “Circle of Life” and two Singaporean-inspired breads - “Ah Lemak?!” and “SingaShake” in the new BreadTalk collection. “Ah Lemak?!” is a Nasi Lemak inspired bread by Chef Chen. The delicious bun has a nice spicy kick with ikan bilis and peanut sambal that is flavourfully enriched with melted cheese. This bun took the chef an entire month to create and is a must-try for every sambal-loving Singaporean

“Five Blessings” is a must-try for health conscience Singaporeans. The nutrient-loaded bread has a mix of red quinoa, red rice and flaxseed, making it a healthy blessing of longevity, prosperity, health, virtue and good living.

“First Love” will definitely take you back to your childhood days. Sweet and pretty on the outside, the bun has a slight tanginess with its strawberry jam filling, reflecting the bittersweet moments of first love.

“Circle of Life” is Chef Chen’s dedication for his fellow chefs. According to him, the filling of dried longan and walnuts will give the chefs enough energy to bake more. The dusted pistachios reminds people that life’s rocky roads can be surmounted by sweet success.

Another local inspired creation, the “SingaShake” was created to resemble one of Singapore’s all-time favourite beverages - the fresh coconut. Fascinated by the amount of people drinking coconut juice and eating its flesh at hawker centres, Chef Chen designed this bread to feature smooth coconut custard with kaya spread.

One of Singapore’s most iconic and favourite buns is BreadTalk’s Pork Floss Bun. The Western-Asian fusion bun is filled with sweet cream and topped and topped with a generous amount of tasty pork floss. Jumping on board the salted-egg-yolk craze in Singapore, BreadTalk’s mini salted egg yolk croissants was an instant hit this year. The bread chain saw longer queues of ecstatic foodies waiting to get their hands on the delightfully flaky, ooey-gooey treats. (BreadTalk Singapore)

Cinnamon buns were all the rage back in the early 90s. Foodies back then would queue at basement one of Raffles City to get their freshly baked aromatic cinnamon buns. Although the hype has long since died down, you can find cinnamon buns in many bakeries around town. (Associated Press)

BreadTalk will be launching five buns in their new collection - “Flavours of Jubilation”. In collaboration with renowned Taiwanese Chef Jonny Chen Yung-Hsin, the new collection with feature three of Chef Chen’s award-winning buns and two uniquely inspired local buns. Each one tells a different story.

The buns will be priced from $2.40 to $8.80 and will be available at 32 BreadTalk stores islandwide from Friday (30 September).
