Ahead Of ONE Atomweight World Grand Prix, Titleholder Angela Lee Focuses On Maternity

The ONE Women’s Atomweight World Grand Prix will begin this May, but reigning ONE Atomweight World Champion “Unstoppable” Angela Lee has another important priority for the time being.

The mother-to-be is 36 weeks pregnant and is seemingly enjoying every second of it while waiting for daughter Ava Marie to enter the world.

Still, the outcome of the tournament will play a big role in Lee’s future. While the titleholder adjusts to her new role as a mother, eight contenders will battle for the right to challenge for her belt later this year.

Those contenders are as follows:

  • Denice Zamboanga (8-0)

  • Meng Bo (17-5)

  • Stamp Fairtex (5-1)

  • Alyse Anderson (5-1)

  • Itsuki Hirata (7-0)

  • Alyona Rassohyna (13-4)

  • Ritu Phogat (4-0)

  • Seo Hee Ham (23-8)

Lee hasn’t made many public comments about the tournament just yet, but there’s no doubt she’ll be watching when the action heats up.

After all, these are the top eight female atomweight fighters in the world of mixed martial arts, and they’re all gunning for her gold.

The Grand Prix will officially begin on 28 May at ONE: EMPOWER with the following matchups:

  • Denice “The Menace” Zamboanga vs. Seo Hee Ham

  • Meng Bo vs. Ritu “The Indian Tigress” Phogat

  • Stamp Fairtex vs. Alyona Rassohyna

  • Itsuki Hirata vs. Alvse “Lil’ Savage” Anderson

Before that happens, Lee’s brother – reigning ONE Lightweight World Champion Christian “The Warrior” Lee – will defend his own strap against Timofey Nastyukhin at “ONE on TNT II” on 15 April.

The event will air on American prime-time television on TNT, and it will also air in Singapore at 8:30 a.m. on a soon-to-be determined channel.
