Akwa United's Ariwa hoping for 'small' injury

The midfielder was instrumental in the Promise Keepers' victory against the Owena Whales and he insists he consistently give his all in order to always be relevant in Abdu Maikaba's setup

Akwa United defender, Ariwa Emmanuel will find out the extent of his injury on Tuesday after his scans at the hospital.

The defender picked up an injury while trying to make a goal-line clearance in the 2-1 win over Plateau United on Sunday afternoon.

Ariwa is hoping that this injury does not keep him sidelined for a lengthy spell.

"I pray the injury isn't that serious. I am at the hospital for the X-ray after which more details about the injury will be revealed," Ariwa told Goal.

"I rushed to clear the ball on the goal line and got injured but I am praying that it's not something big."

The Promise Keepers ended Plateau United's unbeaten run on Sunday and Ariwa admitted that the win reduced the pressure on the team a little.

"We needed that win and it's beautiful that it also meant that we stopped Plateau United's unbeaten run," he added.

"We hope that an away win for Akwa United will spike the confidence more."

Akwa United currently sit on the 14th position with nine points on the Nigerian Profession Football League table.
