From Harper's BAZAAR

We don't know anyone who hasn't fallen under Alexa Chung's sartorial spell.

Now, as brand ambassador for make-up line Code8, the model, fashion designer and TV presenter has detailed her entire beauty routine in the September issue of Red. And, as you might expect from her wardrobe, there's a cool mix of under-the-radar labels and classic buys in her beauty bag...

I’m definitely not the type of woman who spends hours contouring her face. I gravitate towards easy-to-apply, low-maintenance make-up. I love Code8’s Blush Palette in Rosé and the AM/PM Tinted Lip Balm in At The Barre, which make me look pretty and polished.

If I’m going out, a pillarbox-red lipstick (applied straight from the bullet because I don’t trust myself with lip liner or a lip brush!) such as Code8’s Matte Velour Lipstick in Pop Art, is my go-to.

If I’m home late, I’ll probably go to bed with my make-up on. When I do remember to cleanse, I use the creamy and delicious Then I Met You Living Cleansing Balm, but I’m equally happy with coconut oil.

My skincare routine is haphazard. I have moments when I'll get really worried about wrinkles and sunspots and force myself to use moisturiser and wear SPF. I love Sisley's Super Soin Solaire Facial Sun Cream, and Augustinus Bader The Cream, but they're expensive, so are definitely splurge items.

I love a fresh, dewy base but avoid face powder as I think it highlights my wrinkles. I prefer concealer to foundation for coverage and if I need more warmth (in winter, when my skin becomes deathly pale) I turn to Code8’s Radiate Beauty Balm in N10, which is idiot-proof and non-streaky.

Less is more when it comes to make-up, I think. Now I’m older, I can see the value in keeping things light and uncomplicated. All the women I think who have aged beautifully, like Audrey Hepburn, weren’t renowned for wearing lots of make-up. I think she looked stunning, and had a such graceful, simple look – a chic bun, delicate eye make-up and a pale pink lip.

I feel beautiful for about a week in August when I’m on holiday. Ideally, I’ll be tanned
and have wavy, tousled hair but I might spritz in some of David Mallett’s Australian Salt Spray, to give my curls a bit of a boost. The clothes also help; an Eres bikini, a Maison Michel headscarf and some Ancient Greek Sandals.
