Alice Tan will be joining List Sotheby’s International Realty (List SIR) Singapore as the new director of research & consulting for Southeast Asia. The appointment will take effect from July 1. Tan joins List Sotheby’s from Knight Frank Singapore, where she was last director of residential project marketing for a year. Prior to that, she was director and head of research & consulting at Knight Frank Singapore for six years.

Tan joins Han Huan Mei, List SIR’s director of research, who focuses on the Singapore residential and commercial market. Han has been with List SIR since June 2017. She was previously associate director of research at CBRE Asia Pacific for 13 years.

Cross-border real estate investment can be complex, with each market having unique characteristics and different regulations, says Leong Boon Hoe, COO of List SIR. “It is imperative that we expand our research capabilities to meet the needs of our consumers.” These include institutional investors, developers and high net worth individual investors. Leong therefore sees Tan’s regional experience complementing Han’s expertise in the local scene: “Market research will play a key role in bringing our agency to the next level in local and regional client servicing”.

According to Tan, institutional and retail investors are seeking new growth opportunities and embarking on cross-border property acquisitions, with Southeast Asia as a “potential target region”. As such, market intelligence is a highly-valued commodity. “The SEA region is poised to undergo transformational changes in the coming years on the back of robust economic growth [and] higher emphasis on infrastructure improvements, further boosting the investment potential of real estate in the region,” she says.
