Alicia Keys is co-producing a musical drama to air soon on Showtime

The singer is set to collaborate with songwriting duo Benj Pasek and Justin Paul -- known for the lyrics to the songs in "La La Land" among other projects -- on a musical drama to be broadcast on Showtime.

The as-yet-untitled series will be produced by Fox 21 Television Studios. It will tell the story of a family across generations, with the action taking place mostly contemporaneously, alongside flashbacks from 1959 onwards. The heart of the intrigue will focus on a young musician who discovers a murder upon returning to his childhood home.

Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, the duo behind the "La La Land," "Greatest Showman" and "Dear Evan Hansen" soundtracks, will by composing the songs to this new fiction series, screenwritten by Kyle Jarrow.

It is not yet known whether Alicia Keys, who is producing the project alongside Marc Platt ("Wicked," "Into the Woods"), R.J. Cutler ("Nashville") and Adam Siegel, will appear on screen.
