Dickey Betts, guitarist and founding member of the Allman Brothers Band, spoke with Yahoo News National Reporter Garin Flowers about the group’s relationship with former President Jimmy Carter. After it was announced that Carter would be receiving hospice care, Betts praised Carter as a “good person.” Betts added, “Probably as good as I’ve ever met.”
GARIN FLOWERS: We're hearing that Jimmy Carter isn't doing well and that he went to hospice care. What did you think when you heard that?
DICKEY BETTS: Well, we know it's coming, you know. And at the same time it's really, really sad that anybody that knows Jimmy, you know, he's just a good person, really good, really fine person. Probably as good as I've ever met.
