The public wake for Aloysius Pang will be held from Saturday noon until Sunday noon, said the agency for the late 28-year-old actor on Friday (25 January).

Members of the public can pay their final respects to Pang at Blk 82A MacPherson Lane, NoonTalk Media added in a post on its Facebook page.

A private wake for the family will take place on Saturday morning.

“We respectfully appreciate the privacy given during this period,” said the artiste management agency.

Pang suffered grave injuries to his chest and abdominal areas last Saturday afternoon after being caught between the end of the gun barrel and the interior of a Singapore Self-Propelled Howitzer that he and two other Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) personnel were servicing.

At the time of the incident, Pang, who held the rank of Corporal First Class (National Service), was an armament technician from the 268th Battalion Singapore Artillery and one of more than 500 soldiers participating in Exercise Thunder Warrior in New Zealand.

Pang succumbed to his injuries on Wednesday night, making him the fourth SAF-training related fatality in 16 months.

His body is on the way back from New Zealand, said NoonTalk in an earlier post on Friday.

Defence Minister Ng Eng Hen said on Thursday night that a KC-135 tanker aircraft had been sent to New Zealand to repatriate Pang’s body.

Noontalk Media founder Dasmond Koh and Pang’s elder brother Kenny Pang had shared at a press conference on Thursday about the possibility of having a public memorial service for Pang.

“We will try our best to arrange it if we can, because we know a lot of fans want to bid farewell to him,” Koh had said.
