Winter in Canada brings with it many fun experiences, like the chance to go sledding, skiing, skating and more. One of the not so fun aspects? Shovelling snow. And the current major winter storm hitting millions across Ontario is a stark reminder that even though it's almost March, winter is far from over.
If you're sick of shovelling out your driveway after each snowfall, you'll want to check out Amazon Canada's sale on snow throwers, including the Greenworks 10 Amp 16-Inch Corded Snow Thrower, which is currently 21 per cent off.
Save 21%: Greenworks 10 Amp 16-Inch Corded Snow Thrower
What is it?
This Greenworks snow thrower makes it easy to clear snow from your your driveway, sidewalk or patio. It features a 10 amp electric motor as an alternative to gas-powered snow throwers, and has 180-degree directional throwing capabilities to ensure that snow falls exactly where you want it to.
This snow thrower clears a 16-inch path in snow up to 10 inches deep, and discharges snow up to 20 feet away.
What's the difference between a snow blower and a snow thrower?
Snow throwers and snow blowers take the work out of clearing your driveway, sidewalk and patio, and do it with a fraction of the effort you'd spend manually shovelling. While they essentially perform the same task, snow blowers and snow throwers are, in fact, two different things.
A snow thrower is a single-stage machine, meaning it uses a rotating auger to pick up snow and cast it out of the shoot in one continuous motion.
A snow blower, on the other hand, works in two stages. Similar to a snow thrower, it uses a rotating auger to scoop up snow, but rather than immediately shooting it out, it feeds the snow into an impeller (a powerful fan) which blows it out of the chute.
'Great little machine'
The Greenworks Snow Thrower is a top choice among Amazon shoppers, and with its affordable sale price tag there's just another reason to love it. Backed by a solid 4.1-star rating from more than 4,000 customer reviews, shoppers say that this snow thrower makes "short work of even the heaviest snowfalls."
"Great little machine," reads one five-star review. They also shared that this snow thrower was able to "handle everything" a snowy Canadian winter can throw at it, including clearing the deck and walkways.
"Best winter purchase to date," raved one reviewer who was left "astonished" by this snow thrower's performance. They shared that it "throws snow hard and far" and is a "back-saver."
Another reviewer added that this machine is "easy to put together" as well as "easy to start."
However, some reviewers have cautioned that due to its compact size this snow thrower may not be the best option for very large driveways, or areas that receive very heavy snowfall. One reviewer wrote that it's no "replacement or competition" for a two-stage gas blower, but is effective for small areas.
With snow still falling in many parts of the country, it's never too late to gear up for winter. This powerful snow thrower is an affordable and space-saving choice that may be a great option to tackle this year's snowfall, especially for those who live in urban areas and aren't in need of a heavy-duty machine.
