However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the major sales event didn't take place in July as usual — and there were rumblings about it not happening at all. Thankfully, Amazon just announced that its annual Prime Day will take place on Oct. 13. So start scanning the best Amazon Prime Day deals, and get your credit card ready. What is Amazon Prime Day?
Prime Day is Amazon's annual sales event, exclusively for Prime members. Members can find some of the best deals for tech, clothing, home decor, and so much more, ensuring that you'll find major sales on products across all categories. According to Wirecutter, Prime Day began in 2015 and has continued to expand every year since. Last year marked the first time the even took place over the course of two days.
What deals can you expect to see on Prime Day?
Amazon is taking a few extra steps to support small, local businesses with its 2020 Prime Day Deals. For starters, if you shop from select small businesses on Amazon any time before Oct. 12, the company will give you a $10 credit to use toward purchases on its website or shopping app on Oct. 13 and Oct. 14. Through its curated small business collections, Amazon Prime Day also features a “Shop Local” button that allows people to shop by region.
Though Amazon has yet to release its Prime Day deals, there a few items that are likely to be on sale during the mega-deals event, based on past years: all (if not most) of Amazon's devices, like the Echo, Alexa, Fire TV, Kindle, Fire tablets; some Apple products; smart TVs; gaming and toys; smart home products, like a security system or smart lights; books; vacuums; Instant Pots and other kitchen essentials; and, of course, apparel from major brands like Adidas and Calvin Klein.
