KUALA LUMPUR: A senior citizen suffered a broken rib when he fell while climbing a hill at the Bukit Putih forest reserve in Taman Wangsa, Cheras.

United States citizen Joseph Stecker, 82, had begun climbing the hill at 10am and fell at 1.15pm.

A Cheras fire station spokesman said the Fire and Rescue Department received a distress call about the incident at 1.20pm and despatched four firemen to the scene.

“The firemen climbed the hill and found the victim unable to stand up due to his injury,” he said.

The spokesman said Stecker was later helped down the hill before being handed over to medical personnel for treatment.

“A preliminary check showed that he had suffered a broken rib. The victim was fortunate that he had climbed the hill with four friends,” he said. © New Straits Times Press (M) Bhd
