'AGT' chorus performs Bruce Springsteen's 'The Rising' on 9/11 to honor first responders

On Tuesday’s America’s Got Talent, the 17th anniversary of 9/11, semifinalist group Angel City Chorale performed Bruce Springsteen’s response song to the attacks, “The Rising.

Choir director Sue Fink later spoke about the special performance, saying that it was a tribute to first responders.

“We were so much believing in what tonight is, is 9/11, and putting our message out that building community one song at a time. And our tribute to all the first responders that put their lives on the line for people they don’t even know, regardless of race, belief, age,” Fink said.

The Los Angeles-based choir, which earned Olivia Munn’s Golden Buzzer back in July, prides itself on bringing together people from all walks of life — making this performance even more significant.

Fans on Twitter were certainly moved:

The song was paired with a beautiful display of handheld lights that included both the massive choir and the entire audience waving their arms. You could say those watching the performance live were also moved, figuratively as well as literally.

America’s Got Talent airs Tuesdays and Wednesdays at 8 p.m. on NBC. Watch clips and full episodes of America’s Got Talent for free on Yahoo View.
