Jackie Chan and Owen Wilson's "Shanghai Dawn" is happening

8 Sep – After more than a decade since the release of 2000's "Shanghai Noon" and its sequel 2003's "Shanghai Knights", Jackie Chan and Owen Wilson are finally set to reunite in the third installment of the franchise called "Shanghai Dawn".

According to ComingSoon, the film will be helmed by "Napoleon Dynamite" director Jared Hess, marking his second collaboration with Wilson after the comedy "Masterminds".

A third film for the franchise was already mentioned upon the release of the second film, and even by then, it was already decided that the title was going to be "Shanghai Dawn", but it never got the chance to materialise.

Now, Jackie Chan and Owen Wilson are set to reprise the roles as Chon Wang and Roy O'Bannon respectively.

The original "Shanghai Noon" is about a man from China who is forced to team up with a western outlaw to save a Chinese princess.

"Shanghai Noon" was also one of the early Hollywood movies that brought international fame to Hong Kong actor Jackie Chan, aside from his other buddy comedy with Chris Tucker called "Rush Hour".
