A 21-year-old man was arrested for his suspected involvement in the placement of a pinhole camera inside a handicapped toilet stall at Nanyang Technological University (NTU), the police said in a statement on Thursday (8 March).

A week prior, a 58-year-old woman reported the discovery of a pinhole camera in a handicapped toilet at NTU. Police investigations led to the establishment of the suspect’s identity. He was arrested on Wednesday (7 March) for allegedly causing a public nuisance.

Preliminary findings showed that the man had prior involvement in similar cases, and a laptop computer, mobile phone and two pinhole cameras were seized as evidence.

Investigations into the case are in progress. Anyone convicted of the offence of public nuisance may be punished with a fine of up to $1,000. Anyone convicted of insulting the modesty of a woman may be punished with up to a year’s jail, or fined, or both.
