Angela Lee marks ONE Championship return with title defence
Singapore’s first ONE Championship fight card of the year was headlined by the return of Angela Lee, where she defended her women’s atomweight title against Japan’s Mei Yamaguchi.
Held at the Singapore Indoor Stadium on Friday (18 May), the main bout of ONE: UNSTOPPABLE DREAMS went down to the wire, where Lee won by unanimous decision after five rounds.
Lee was also the victor of their previous clash in 2016, and was set to clash with Yamaguchi in November last year, but had to withdraw after a car accident.
Lee’s younger brother Christian came up short in his attempt to challenge for the ONE Featherweight World Championship title, losing to Australia’s Martin Nguyen by split decision.
Singapore’s Amir Khan was dominant from the get-go and took home a round-two knockout, beating South Korea’s Sung Jong Lee in their lightweight bout.
The testosterone-filled night was also highlighted by swim stars Michael Phelps and Joseph Schooling, who made guest appearances cageside.
