KUALA TERENGGANU: Another two Rohingya men were detained to assist the police investigation into the murder of a 35-year-old Rohingya man at a house in Kampung Pak Madah, Bukit Payong, here, on March 18.

The two, aged 33 and 42, were picked up at Kampung Bukit Diman, Hulu Terengganu, at 2pm today.

State Criminal Investigations Department chief Assistant Commissioner Wan Abdul Aziz Wan Hamzah said the main suspect in the case has been identified as Mohamad Qarim Abdul Razak or better known as Qori.

Wan Abdul Aziz said police investigations showed that the two detained were the last two individual Qori had met before he went in hiding.

A state police task force unit with the help of Marang policemen nabbed four suspects who had been on the run, including the victim’s own brother, and Qori’s wife.

“The four were picked up at separate locations. The victim’s 40-year-old brother was the first to be picked up at Pekan Bukit Payong at 1am. Investigation showed that he was at the crime scene during the murder,” he said today.

He added Qori’s wife, 25, and her 19-year-old brother in-law were detained near the industrial area in Bukit Kor, Marang at 2.30pm.

“Following that, Qori’s other brother, aged 33, was detained with the help of Hulu Terengganu’s police team near Ajil, Hulu Terengganu at 4.20pm on the same day,” he said.

Police are still after the main suspect and believes that Qori is still in the Hulu Terengganu area.

He asked for those with information on him or know of his whereabouts should contact the nearest police station.
