Ant McPartlin is late for radio interview with Declan Donnelly due to technical issues

From Digital Spy

Ant McPartlin was a little late for his recent radio interview with Declan Donnelly – and he couldn't blame it on traffic.

The Geordie was meant to join up with his co-presenter for a chat with Dermot O'Leary on BBC Radio 2 this morning (April 3), but he was delayed by some technical difficulties.

"Where is he? He's still asleep isn’t he. It would not be the first time," joked Dermot, prompting a chuckle from Dec.

Filling the time until Ant arrived, Dermot continued: "Dec... How are you? We can’t get Ant. I don’t know where he is. You’re not telepathic, you’re not your brother’s keeper."

"I think it’s technical," he added. "We’re all getting used to Zoom and WhatsApp call and video calling. We don’t know what we’re doing!"

When Ant eventually arrived, Dermot joked: "Here he is, has he rolled out of bed now?"

"What are you on about Dermot. I’ve been sat here waiting for you!" Ant hit back playfully, explaining that he'd been listening to Dec and Dermot talk the whole time as he was trying to get through.

Ant went on to talk about the challenge of dealing with technical issues when filming Saturday Night Takeaway from their homes.

"It looks kind of dead easy and like you’re just going back and forwards but it’s not, there’s a lot more that goes into it than that," he said.

"And you try and choose the best part of your house – the best kind of corner to show off. You don’t want to show too much off but you want to say, you know, I want it to look good on the telly.

"It’s been great and we’re given the chance to still broadcast and be on air, and it’s a privilege.'"

Ant & Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway continues on Saturday (April 4) at 7pm on ITV.
