Anti-Government Protesters Gather in Bangkok

Anti-government protesters gathered in Bangkok, Thailand, for a rally on Tuesday, October 20, as organizers urged them to “save energy” for an upcoming demonstration, the Bangkok Post reported.

Protest organizers under the name Free Youth encouraged demonstrators to go to transit stations on Tuesday to flash a three-finger salute before leaving “to save energy for a new rally to be announced on Wednesday,” reports said.

The Hunger Games–inspired salute has been popular with protesters since Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-ocha took power in 2014. The protests were held amid calls for the prime minister’s resignation and constitutional reforms.

Local media said some protesters also congregated at “small rally sites” throughout Thailand on Tuesday. This video shows a crowd of people gathered in front of Central Pinklao in Bangkok. Credit: @arnoakmai via Storyful
