Maintaining a youthful look is highly sought after these days, not just among the ladies but also increasingly by men. This is evident with the huge amount of youth regenerating products seen on the shelves in recent years.

According to Master Bai Yin of Ren He Tang, taking care of your ren mai and dai mai, two acupuncture points the human body, will help unlock the doors to eternal youth. She believes that taking good care of your health, along with nurturing the body with the right qigong techniques simultaneously, can help in one’s quest towards youthfulness.

“The first onset of wrinkles should be around the age of 29,” Dr. Xu Li Feng of Ren He Tang shared. “However, ladies are seeing wrinkles earlier, and menopause is also starting earlier.”

Letting on that the youngest patient in their clinic that suffered from symptoms of menopause was a 24-year-old lady, Dr Xu let on that one of the reasons for earlier appearances of wrinkles and menopause is due to the premature weakening of ovaries.

“Young people like to stay up late, and in our words, it is borrowing your future reserves of Yang qi to use it early. Once you used it, there is no way to replenish it.”

Starting early and caring for your health, cultivating good habits while young is the best prevention for early onset of wrinkles and menopause.

“When you begin to show signs of menopause or even an earlier appearance of wrinkles, it shows that even your internal organs are starting to get weaker and work less efficiently,” Dr Xu shared.

An imbalance of yin and yang and the lack of care of critical acupuncture points around the body will all contribute to appearing older than your age. Ensuring good blood and qi circulation around the body will also help to boost youthfulness.

The Dai Mai Regulating Technique helps to regulate the qi around the body, especially towards the eight extraordinary meridians, and helping to fight the effects of ageing. Unblocking the eight extraordinary meridians is also said to help one feel more invigorated.

Dai Mai regulating technique:

  1. Raise both hands above your head and shake your palms to relax

  2. Relax your arms and lower them

  3. Spread your legs to shoulder width

  4. Place your right hand on the ming men acupoint (on your back, right behind the belly button)

  5. Turn your left palm outwards and upwards, raising it up along with your qi towards your right

  6. Turn your left palm and shift your body weight so you can turn towards the back and continue pushing your qi, this time back to your start point

  7. Rest your left palm on your lower belly

  8. Repeat step 4 to 7 once more

  9. Repeat step 4 to 7 with opposite hands
