KOTA BHARU: The decision by PAS to field Dr Halimah Ali as the party’s candidate for the upcoming Seri Setia by-election is the right move as she has a lot of experience.
PAS Youth vice chief Ahmad Fadhli Shaari said this advantage could not be denied and it was among the reason the party selected her as a candidate.
“When I look through the two candidates fielded by PAS and Pakatan Harapan (PH), I can see that PAS' candidate is more suitable to be elected Seri Setia assemblyman.
“Based on her wide experince, education background and other records, it can't be denied that Dr Halimah can provide the best service (to the rakyat) compared to PH's candidate,” he told NSTP when contacted today.
Ahmad Fadhli who is also Pasir Mas Member of Parliament, said with Dr Halimah contesting, there would be `check’ and `balance’ in the contest.
He remarked that Dr Halimah was the best choice for Seri Setia voters.
Dr Halimah is former Selangor state executive councillor as well as a medical doctor by profession.
She is set to face PH's Halimey Abu Bakar in a straight feat for the Seri Setia state seat.
PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang said the former Selat Klang assemblyman was chosen by the party to be their candidate because she was an influential leader in Selangor.
The Seri Setia seat fell vacant following the passing of incumbent Prof Dr Shaharuddin Badaruddin, 56, from PKR, due to cancer on Aug 2.
