‘Woz’ and Fielding team up to launch Privateer

According to a new YouTube video uploaded by Privateer, the Apple co-founder and Alex Fielding are launching a brand new business together. “A Private space company is starting up, unlike the others,” tweeted Wozniak with the link to their video.

“We’ll look out for one another. Solve problems together. It isn’t a race, it isn’t a competition or a game. We are not one person, one company, one nation. We’re one planet, explorers. We’re dreamers, risk-takers, engineers, stargazers. We are human and it’s up to us to do what is right and what is good. So here’s to taking care of what we have so that the next generation can be better, together,” said the voice-over from the video.

However, the Apple co-founder did not reveal the main focus of their aerospace company. Although Wozniak quoted that he wished to “keep space accessible for future generations in his press release. However, according to a different press release for a 3D printer in August, the space firm is “focused on monitoring and cleaning up objects in space.” As of now, the firm’s official website only says “The sky is no longer the limit” and contains an embedded youtube video. The website is in stealth and only shows the contact page in addition to the home page. However, it also promised that the firm will take part in the Advanced Maui Optical and Space Surveillance Tech conference on September 14.

Space debris is an ever-growing threat, especially now that space travel is becoming private and more accessible, at least to multi-billionaires. And, several startups are trying to get into the profitable business of cleaning up the space.
