Apple introduces App Store feature dedicated to LGBT community

Apple is Pride 2015 with an App Store section dedicated to LGBT issues

Apple has added a special section to its App store in support of the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender community ahead of Pride Day (June 28) and on the same day that the Supreme Court ruled to legalize gay marriage in all 50 US states.

The featured area brings together books, movies, TV shows and apps related to the LGBT community, including content related to the 1969 Stonewall riots in New York City -- a crucial event in the gay liberation movement.

Movies like "Milk," "Brokeback Mountain" and "Philadelphia," and TV shows such as "Orange is the New Black" and "Modern Family" are among the featured content.

Apple has become an outspoken leader on LGBT rights, notably since the company's CEO Tim Cook announced he was gay in October 2014. The company also took part in the 2015 Pride Parade in San Francisco, publishing clips of its employees participating in the March on YouTube.
