While Apple’s entry-level iPad is great for casual use, the Apple iPad Air is for when you need a little bit more oomph. It’s speedy, sleek and powerful. What more could you want?

And why wait any longer to get one? Right now, Amazon has the latest Apple iPad Air (in Green, Silver and Space Gray) on sale for $500, an all-time low. You’ll save $99! That's impressive, considering Apple products rarely go on sale. You'll be in good company, too: The Apple iPad Air is so popular, it’s earned a five-star rating from more than 13,100 reviewers.

And Amazon will give you free shipping too. But if you have Amazon Prime, you’ll get so much more — from access to new movies and TV shows, discounts at Whole Foods, exclusive sales and two-day shipping on many, many items. Not yet a member? Let's fix that: Go ahead and sign up for your free 30-day trial here.

Pure power

Normally priced at $599, the Apple iPad Air Wi-Fi-only model is slightly larger than the previous iteration, with a 10.9-inch Retina display compared to 10.2. It’s also zippier, thanks to Apple’s A14 Bionic chip (the older model uses the A12 processor). Plus, it has 64GB of on-board storage instead of 32GB. In just about every way, the Apple iPad Air is bigger, faster, sharper and sleeker.

Said a fan: “Easiest and most powerful iPad Apple next to the Pro.”

Your on-the-go companion

There’s a reason it’s called the iPad Air: It weighs only a pound. That's right; 16 little ounces. So slip it in your tote and off you go.

“...It's a bit faster, a bit thinner, a bit lighter, and a bit shinier than all the tablets I've used before,” shared a satisfied Amazon shopper. “But, taken altogether — and taken along with the second-generation Apple Pencil — it feels like an entirely new experience. I haven't been this struck by a new device in a while...it fits itself into my workflow immediately. I think the highest praise I can give it is that it's amazing how quickly it effectively disappeared: Within a couple days of using it, I stopped noticing it, because everything about writing and taking notes with the iPad and the Pencil felt second nature; it felt like it had always been there.”

It’s compatible with styluses like the Apple Pencil and keyboard covers like the Apple Magic Keyboard (both sold separately).

At $500 (was $599), the Apple iPad Air combines the power of the iPad Pro with the light-as-a-feather, compact design of the standard iPad. If you want more speed and power than the entry-level model but you’re not ready to spring for the Pro, this is the one to get.

Take it from this five-star reviewer: "My new favorite toy."
