Chairman of the House Committee on Drugs Representative Robert Ace Barbers believes the administration’s campaign against illegal drugs will help in the passage of his proposed laws in Congress.

Barbers is particularly refering to his proposals to appoint officers-in-charge in barangays and to postpone the barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections until 2020.

The lawmaker also sees no problem in case 300,000 barangay officials will be appointed and their vetting process pushes through.

He said such a process is also in accordance to the Constitution.

“Unless provided by law… This means only the Congress can pass a law. Since the Congress can pass a law, that law can determine to whom the authority to appoint should be given,” Representative Barbers said. – UNTV News & Rescue
