Argentinian man claims trial to trafficking 1.37kg of cocaine


BALIK PULAU: An Argentinian man was charged in the magistrate's court here today with trafficking in 1.37kg of cocaine worth RM247,200.

Miguel Angel Camacho, 57, was alleged to have trafficked the contraband at the arrival hall of the Penang International Airport about 2pm on March 29.

He was charged under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drug Act 1952, which carries the mandatory death penalty upon conviction.

The charge was read to him in Spanish by an interpreter before court registrar Mohamad Alif Abdul Aziz.

No plea was recorded from the accused, who was unrepresented.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Nur Fazliyana Ahmad asked the court to fix another date pending chemist report.

Alif then fixed June 22 for mention.
