A man in his 50s has been arrested after suspected cocaine worth more than €2.5m (£2.1m) was seized at Rosslare Europort in the Republic of Ireland, gardaí (Irish police) have said.

Irish Revenue officers seized about 36kg of suspected cocaine at the County Wexford harbour on Friday.

The drugs were discovered following a stop and search of a truck that had disembarked a ferry from Dunkirk, France.

The man is currently being held under drug trafficking legislation at a Garda (Irish police) station in the county.

The drug seizure on Friday follows a 30kg discovery of suspected cocaine worth €2.1m (£1.75m) at the harbour on Thursday.
