Indonesia searches for ways to balance domestic industries with surging Chinese imports
Cloud software firm Salesforce said on Tuesday its Hyperforce cloud platform was now available in Israel, which will allow sensitive government and companies' data to stay local. The platform, two years in the making, will initially run on Amazon Web Services (AWS) infrastructure and possibly later on Google Cloud Platform, company officials said. Itai Margalit, head of sales at Salesforce in Israel, said having a cloud platform would benefit government entities and those firms "that are regulated and need to comply with privacy laws ... and cannot go out of the boundaries of Israel."
Car rental giant Avis is notifying hundreds of thousands of people that their personal information and driver's license numbers were stolen in an August cyberattack. The New Jersey-headquartered company said in a data breach notice filed with several U.S. attorneys general over the past week that it discovered intruders in one of its business applications on August 5 and took efforts to end the unauthorized access, which the company said began two days earlier. Avis did not disclose the nature of the cyberattack and details of the incident remain scarce.

The Justice Department, joined by a coalition of states, and Google each made opening statements Monday to a federal judge in Alexandria, Virginia, who will decide whether Google holds a monopoly over online advertising technology. The regulators contend that Google built, acquired and maintains a monopoly over the technology that matches online publishers to advertisers.
