ASIAN WOODBALL MEET KICKS OFF IN PERLIS

KANGAR, July 21 (Bernama) -- The 7th Asian Woodball Championship involving

400 players from 13 countries, kicked off here today.

Besides Malaysia, the other countries involved in the three-day championship

are Taiwan, Hong Kong, India, China, South Korea, Indonesia, Singapore,

Thailand, Vietnam, Japan, Macau and the Philippines.

Besides this championship, the 15th Malaysian Open Woodball Championship is

also being held simultaneously.

The venues being used are Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) Arau''s field,

Dataran Datuk Sheikh Ahmad and the MPK field, here.

Both meets were opened by Perlis tourism committee chairman Ahmad Bakri

Ali, who represented the Menteri Besar of Perlis.

Also present were International Woodball Federation (IWbF) president Ming

Hui Weng, Asian Woodball Federation president Thomas Kok and Malaysian Wooddball

Association president Elaine Tan.
