Assault near Miri snooker centre kills one, injures two


MIRI: One man was killed, and two others injured, after they were attacked by an assailant with sharp weapons in front of a snooker centre in Kampung Kayu Kapur, Bekenu, last night.

Yusuf Sidani, 45, an assistant project manager from Sabah, died on the spot during the incident, which occurred at 8pm.

"He was stabbed in the chest," Miri Police chief ACP Khoo Leng Huat said in a statement here, today.

The two injured victims, believed to be Indonesians, are currently receiving treatment at the Miri Hospital.

"Police believe the suspect is also an Indonesian, but the motive for the attack is still being investigated," Khoo added. -- BERNAMA
