Attack on Titan is coming to iOS and Android devices

Mobage has recently launched a rather epic promotional and registration site for its upcoming game based on the animated series Attack on Titan. The game, titled 自由への咆哮 (The Roar Towards Freedom), will be a tower defense game for iOS and Android devices where you build up your walls and defenses to keep the titans out of your city.

The promotional site may have been launched a few weeks back, but it became epic today with the revealing of the game’s characters, story, and overall tone. The overall production value of the site got me really excited for the game.

In this new game you will find several new characters as well as some favorites from the series. Fereeta (or フェレータ in Japanese), one of these new characters, has long been banished from the safety of the wall, and will teach you how to survive. Her teaching will prove to be invaluable as you build up your own city and protect your people and your freedom from the onslaught of titans.

On top of the story and characters, the site also reveals a pre-registration campaign. If you register for the game and then send out a tweet saying you wish for gems, money, or time with the hashtag (望むモノ) you will receive a code for whatever you wished for. The gems will affect your offense, the money your defense, and time will allow you to do other jobs and create in between attacks: all pretty valuable bonuses that the game is offering for you to tweet and spread the word. Not a bad promotional stunt if you ask me.

There’s no word yet on a release date or even whether or not there will be an English version, but as a new fan of the series you can be sure I’ll be watching the site for updates.
