PASIR MAS: A wedding reception in Kampung Tong, here, is being celebrated together with the National Day month in a bid to instill a sense of patriotism amongst guests.
For groom Mohd Rizuwan Mohamad, 30, he took the opportunity of an August wedding to incorporate the spirit of Malaysia's National Day.
"Although it is not that common, I did not want the opportunity at hand to go to waste.
"The uniqueness (of my wedding) has also added to the joy amongst guests as they sang along to patriotic songs while waving the Jalur Gemilang," he said when met, here, today.
Mohd Rizuwan's wedding reception saw the attendance of some 500 guests including a Kelantan royalty Tengku Iskandar Tengku Ahmad and his family.
Bride Nur Farah Ismail, 25, said incorporating the National Day celebration within their wedding reception made it unique and served as an added attraction for guests.

"It is different because previously we hardly hear of a two-in-one reception where guests can celebrate the bride and groom as well as the National Day which is due in just a few more days," she said.
Meanwhile, a friend of the couple Faizal Shaari, 32, said this was the first time he attended a wedding that also highlighted the National Day.
"It is quite an attraction for the public as I'm sure most of the guests here have not attended such a two-in-one affair before," he said. © New Straits Times Press (M) Bhd
