Avril Lavigne wowed fans with her "eternal youth" at the 2021 MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs) in New York City.

The "Sk8er Boi" singer and her boyfriend, Mod Sun, made their red carpet debut on Sunday evening, where Lavigne turned heads in a hot-pink plaid pantsuit, bedazzled bralette and platform heels by Area PF21.

While her outfit was definitely a show-stopper, fans also quickly took to social media to gush over the 36-year-old's toned abs and "virtually ageless skin."

"Abs for days" another pointed out. "Sis ain't aging."

"I love when celebrities flaunt their eternal youth. You go, girl," someone else commented.

"Avril, sis, we're going to need you to drop a skincare and workout routine," another wrote. "How are you looking this ripped and ageless? I cannot."

One person shared two side-by-side photos of Lavigne in 2002 and in 2021 to prove that Lavigne hasn't lost her youthful good looks.

"Will this woman ever age?" they tweeted.

The VMAs marked Lavigne's first red carpet appearance since early 2020. The star has kept a low profile following a five-year hiatus from music due to a private battle with Lyme disease.

"I spent the last few years at home sick, fighting Lyme disease. Those were the worst years of my life as I went through both physical and emotional battles. I was able to turn that fight into music I'm really proud of," she penned in a letter to fans on her website.

According to Lavigne, her loyal fanbase and her passion for music were crucial in helping her conquer some of the most trying days of her illness.

"I wrote songs in my bed and on the couch and recorded there mostly as well. Words and lyrics that were so true to my experience came pouring out of me effortlessly," she explained. "Truly... by keeping my spirits up, having goals to reach and a purpose to live for, my music helped to heal me and keep me alive."
