Bad news Man Utd? Griezmann prefers La Liga to Premier League

The France international has been heavily linked with Manchester United, but his fellow countryman believes he should head to England at the Emirates

Manchester United's hopes of landing Antoine Griezmann may have taken a blow after the Atletico Madrid star revealed he preferred La Liga to the Premier League.

The France international's goalscoring exploits in Madrid have established him as one of the world's finest forwards over the last few seasons.

And after making the podium for the 2016 FIFA Best Player award alongside Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi, United are one of the clubs strongly linked with an approach for the star.

Griezmann, however, insists that Spanish football suits him better than the "intense" English top flight.

"I like the intensity in the EPL. Yes I watch English football. The referees let you play, stadiums are always full," he explained to RMC.

"But If I had to choose one league, it would be Spain. Its fits my style more."

Further quizzed on his future, Griezmann opted to answer diplomatically on a range of possible destinations - including whether he would choose Atletico's rivals Real Madrid or Barcelona.

"In Barcelona, they already have their trident up front. Madrid, I couldn't go because of club. I think they have a pact or something like that," he said.

"I'm not really attracted by Germany. France? Not right now. England? I have doubts about my private life. And you know, the weather... I like to be happy outside."

Griezmann and Atletico will not be in action this week in the Champions League, but return to the European competition on February 21 with a clash away to Bayer Leverkusen in the last 16.
