BAGAN DATOH: Bagan Datoh Wanita Umno chief Aminah Abdul Manaf died of heart and kidney complications at the National Heart Institute (IJN) in Kuala Lumpur at 6pm today.

The 52-year-old Bagan Datoh Kemas supervisor has earlier gone for a routine check at the IJN, accompanied by a family member.

Deputy Prime Minister and Bagan Datoh member of parliament Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, via his Twitter account, confirmed Aminah's death.

Aminah won the divisional Wanita Umno chief seat after she defeated the incumbent Datuk Abidah@ Abaidah Zainuddin in the 2013 party elections.

In the unexpected victory, Aminah secured 239 votes while Abidah, who had held the post for 30 years, only received 39 votes.

Aminah was then the movement assistant secretary in the Bagan Datoh division.

Zahid's special officer in Bagan Datoh Mohd Shahirul Yunasyrik Mohd Yusof said Aminah's body would be brought to her family's home at Kampung Tanah Lalang for the funeral tomorrow.

He said Aminah was also Sungai Dulang Pekan branch Wanita Umno chief.
