KUALA LUMPUR: Bagai Serai MP Datuk Dr Noor Azmi Ghazali has dismissed rumours that he will vacate his seat to make way for Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

“Not me,” he said.

Asked if he has been in contact with Anwar, Noor Azmi said: “I have never met him or am in contact with him.

“No one has contacted me so far and it is not me,” he stressed when met at the Parliament lobby today.

Noor Azmi said as an independent MP, his focus is solely on Bagan Serai.

When further pressed if he has plans to join any party, he merely said, “Not yet, see first. I have yet to get inspiration to join any other party.”

It was reported by a news portal recently that an independent MP in Perak has offered his seat to Anwar.

Apart from Noor Azmi, the other independent representative is Bukit Gantang MP Datuk Syed Abu Hussin Hafiz Syed Abdul Fasal.

Noor Azmi and Syed Abu in the recent general election had contested under Barisan Nasional-Umno, but announced their departure from Umno on June 24 and 27, respectively. © New Straits Times Press (M) Bhd
