BALAKONG: MCA Balakong by-election candidate Tan Chee Teong, who is among the registered voters in the constituency, has cast his vote at SJK (C) Batu 11 Cheras here at 9.14am.
He was accompanied by his parents; Tan Kim Huat and Lee Saw Wan and wife Connie Chin, 38, who also cast their votes at the school.
Also present were his four year-old daughter Tan Jin En and Tan Jin Suen, 11.
Earlier at 7.30am, Tan, who appeared to be in a good spirit, and his family spent some time to mingle with the voters outside of the school.
Speaking to the reporters after casting his vote, Tan said that he was excited to see his name on the ballot paper.
“I cannot help but to feel happy when I saw my name. It doesn’t matter what the result will be, I already did my best and I leave the matter to the voters.”

Meanwhile, Pakatan Harapan candidate Wong Siew Ki arrived at 9.30am to visit the polling centre that has 3,954 registered voters.
Wong said she was satisfied with the ongoing voting process and urged the voters to come out early to cast their votes.
A total of 62,160 voters in the Balakong constituency, which sees Tan and Wong contesting against each other, are eligible to vote at 16 polling stations with 128 streams today, which opened at 8am and will close at 5.30pm.
The official result is expected to be announced at 10pm and will be held at Dewan Utama Demesne at the Hulu Langat District and Land Office.
The by-election was called following the death of its assemblyman, Eddie Ng Tien Chee, in an accident at KM11.7 of the Grand Saga Highway on July 20. © New Straits Times Press (M) Bhd
