Baling crash tragedy: Two young siblings to receive surgery today

ALOR SETAR: Two of four young siblings who were injured in a car crash which took the lives of their parents in Kampung Teluk Keduri, Baling, will undergo surgery on their feet and hands today.

Kedah Health director Datuk Dr Norhizan Ismail said three of the children, who were admitted to the Sultan Abdul Halim Hospital in Sungai Petani yesterday, are conscious and in stable condition, while the fourth received outpatient treatment at the Baling Hospital.

He said Irdina Aliah, 11, will undergo surgery on her right hand, while Imanina Aliah, six, will go through surgery on her left thigh.

Insyirah Aliah, 10, meanwhile, suffered a fractured right hand, but has received non-surgical treatment, while Muhammad Adib Mustakim, eight, who sustained minor injuries, received outpatient treatment.

The tragedy occurred at 7.15am yesterday when ASP Mohd Noor Mat Yaub, 38, was driving his wife, Suriya Abd Rahman, 37, a teacher, and four of their five children, to Sekolah Kebangsaan Teluk Teduri, Baling.

It is believed that Mohd Noor was trying to make a right turn when his Toyota Passo was hit by a Toyota Hilux from behind, which caused his car to veer into the opposite lane, where it was struck by an oncoming Honda City.

The two adults died at the scene. --Bernama
