Bangkok, you’re up! VentureCon takes on Thailand for the first time

Meet the APAC industry leaders involved.

From Taiwan to Singapore and Tokyo – e27‘s VentureCon, powered by GoodShift Ventures, will be making its next stop in Bangkok in conjunction with Echelon Thailand 2017 this May.

Expect industry leaders and fresh faces from the likes of NSI Ventures, InterVentures, SeedPlus, Creative Ventures and 500 Startups. The VentureCon track – exclusive to registered investors – is set to take on the next age of investment trends, including opportunities and challenges arising from the revival of Angels. emergence of family offices in Thailand, and driving more capital and deal flow within Thailand itself.

Here are the first five speakers:

1. Simon Anquetil, Founder & Chairman, GoodShift Ventures

Simon is an entrepreneur and information technology leader, having founded and developed businesses in the IT sector since he was 14 years old. Simon is currently the Founder and Chairman of GoodShift Ventures; a hybrid accelerator, incubator and Venture Capital firm for start-up ideas that have a connection to good – whether that be through diversity, social benefit, purpose or something equally important – GoodShift was created to grow and support ideas that are positively focused.

Having completed a thesis on the subject of female entrepreneurship as part of a Master’s degree, he is a regular speaker on the importance of strengthening and supporting female entrepreneurs in Australia and around the world. Simon has completed post-graduate studies in teaching and learning and was a mentor to every organisation he has created. His focus continues to be on the development of people, entities and potential. In 2016, Simon was named the Owner Entrepreneur of the Year at the Australian AIM Leadership Excellence Awards.

2. Paddy Tan, Founder, InterVentures Asia

Paddy is the ’go to guy’ with a no-nonsense approach for tech startups and ventures in Asia. He is armed with vast experience in identifying startups from an idea to mentoring, funding and acquisition stage. He improves the probabilities by running on the ground engaging founders, partners and VCs to make the whole business plan work.

Because of his passion for anything technology related, he developed a keen eye for Wearable Tech, Internet Of Things and Crowdfunding. He possesses vast knowledge of how technologies can be integrated into different businesses and provides consultancy services to business leaders with a team of colleagues for digital technologies and system integration specialised in Change Management, Strategies, Digital Marketing, Gamification and App Development.

3. Anvesh Ramineni, Director, NSI Ventures

Anvesh serves as a Vice President at NSI Ventures. He joined the firm since 2014. Previously, Mr. Ramineni served as a Senior Associate and Analyst at TMT Investment Banking of Citigroup Asia -Pacific. He holds an M.B.A. in Finance from T. A. Pai Management Institute and a Bachelor of Engineering, Electronics and Communications Engineering from Anna University.

4. Michael Smith Jr., Partner, SeedPlus

Michael has helmed technology-led expansions across the region from HOOQ (SingTel), Spuul, Yahoo! and BEA Systems (later acquired by Oracle). Michael is a WebLogic alumnus who currently calls Singapore home and is excited to be a part of the startup ecosystem in Southeast Asia.

A 44-year-old native from the Bay area with a degree in Computer Science from Sierra College in California, USA, Michael has found his home in East Asia: He has worked in Singapore, Hong Kong and Thailand, and been actively involved in the Asian start-up community over the past ten years.

5. Champ Suthipongchai, Managing Partner, Creative Ventures

Champ is a founding partner of Creative Ventures, the first Thai venture capital firm in Silicon Valley. Creative Ventures brings together South East Asia business partners with US founders, focusing on infrastructure technology that are solving secular trends within healthcare, industrial, and agriculture sector. Also Chief Strategy Officer for SHARP Thai City Electric, Champ is currently based in San Francisco, CA.
