Bayern Munich will struggle to sign Arsenal's Alexis Sanchez - Oliver Kahn

Bayern Munich will struggle to prize Alexis Sanchez away from Arsenal this summer because the Gunners have no financial need to sell the Chile star, according to Oliver Kahn.

Sanchez's future at Arsenal remains uncertain, with the forward having just a year left on his current contract at the club although the Gunners are believed to have offered the 28-year-old a complex package worth about £300,000-a-week.

Standard Sport reported earlier this month that Bundesliga champions Bayern were willing to trump that offer but president Uli Hoeness appeared to pour cold water on any prospective move for Sanchez this week after saying the club cannot build a new team based on expensive veteran signings.

Former Bayern goalkeeper Kahn believes the German giants may not end up signing Sanchez in the coming months because Arsenal have the money to persuade the Chilean to stay put in north London.

The 48-year-old said: "Of course [Alexis Sanchez is a target], but in today's professional football it is not that easy to get the big transfers - the so-called 'grenade' - even for Bayern.

"It is not easy to get a new [Franck] Ribery or a new [Arjen] Robben, because other clubs don't necessarily have to sell their players because they have enormous amounts of money.

"They can make their players stay at the club and that's what's making it more difficult for Bayern to buy top stars."
