Both Arjen Robben and Jerome Boateng will not be part of German champions Bayern Munich’s pre-season tour, which includes the International Champions Cup tournament in Singapore.

Winger Arjen Robben sustained an injury to his right calf while playing tennis on vacation, the club announced on Wednesday (12 July) via its website.

The 33-year-old will remain in Munich for a tailored sports rehab programme “with the aim of resuming regular squad training as soon as possible”.

The other player to miss out on the tour is World Cup winner Jerome Boateng.

The 28-year-old centre-back picked up a thigh muscle injury on the final day of the 2016/17 season, and the club have decided not to risk playing him in the friendlies in Asia, according to the Bundesliga website.

Boateng will join Robben in Munich at the club’s training centre to continue his rehabilitation.

The duo will join the likes of Manuel Neur, Niklas Sule, and Arturo Vidal on the list of absentees.

On the other hand, playmaker James Rodriguez, a new signing from Real Madrid, is expected to join the squad for their tour in China and Singapore.
