Bears OC Bill Lazor, DC Sean Desai, STC Chris Tabor placed in COVID-19 protocol

COVID-19 has ravaged some NFL rosters, but coaching staffs are also being affected.

Chicago Bears head coach Matt Nagy announced on Thursday that defensive coordinator Sean Desai, offensive coordinator Bill Lazor, and special teams coordinator Chris Tabor have all been placed in the COVID protocol.

That's all of the Bears' coordinators. None of them will be available for any practices for at least a few days, and their availability for the Bears' Monday night game against the Minnesota Vikings is unknown. Nagy said the Bears would only do a walkthrough practice on Thursday since the team is without three coaches and a number of players.

While the Bears' coaching staff has been hit hard by COVID-19, they're doing a bit better on the player side: They currently have six players on the reserve/COVID-19 list. In isolation, that's not a small number of players. But compared to the Cleveland Browns, who currently have 19 players on the list, and the Washington Football Team, who have a whopping 21 players on the list, six players is a pretty small number.

Since the Bears' Week 15 game is on Monday and not Sunday, there's a chance Desai, Lazor, and Tabor could be available if they return two negative tests within 24 hours. But even with the extra day, it's a pretty tight turnaround.
