Beauty Flashback: This Week's New Gen Beauty Icon Is Alexa Chung

She counts Karl Lagerfeld as a fan and she has a Mulberry bag named in her honour so it is easy to see why Alexa Chung has fast become one of our favourite beauty icons. She’s a gal about town (whether it be London or New York) and if she isn’t FROW hopping, she’s hanging and djing at the hippest partays. Ah Alexa, will you be our best friend please?

From her make up free face beaming from our TV screens on Channel 4’s Freshly Squeezed back in 2006 to her rocking vintage red carpet glamour, these are the beauty moments that make us love her so.

Her go to sixties make up

We know her best for making the beatnik look her own. She has had us reaching for our liquid liner to play up our eyes with the trademark flick, keeping lips matte and pale with just a hint of pink. We’re obsessed with Mac’s limited edition lipsticks in Pure Decoration and Raspberry Swirl, £14.00.

The kooky nail art

This girl is the queen of the crazy mani. Rebelling against the groomed perfection of a New York manicure, in favour of something more alternative. Alexa has experimented with toadstool motifs, the evil eye (really quite freaky), bejewelled sugar skulls and our favourite, emerald graduated glitter. Check out Models Own NEW Artisix nail beads in green for a similar look.

Her ‘undone’ do

We can’t get enough of Alexa’s effortless Brit cool. Her hair has that ‘just’ grown out fringe or colour, always slightly dishevelled look about it. Wash your hair with Bumble and bumble’s Surf shampoo, £18.50 and crème conditioner, £20.00 to create textured waves. Leave loose or pin back into a low knot for her ‘I’m dating a rock star’ style.  Alexa's also just been signed to L'Oreal Professional colour range INOA, thanks to that enviable, rich brunette colour.

Driving a $900,000 Porsche 918 Spyder to the future

It’s more than just its inherent speed, or the whooshing noise that fills the cabin like a school choir jamming with James Hetfield. It’s what it represents in an industry full of skeptics. It’s a portal into the future – a time capsule left by some mad scientist born decades too soon. It’s something that shouldn’t exist. And yet it does.

    5 Unanswered Questions About Jesus

As Christians worldwide gather for Easter to celebrate their belief in the death and rebirth of Jesus, researchers continue to delve into the mysteries that surround the man. The following are five questions about Jesus that, for now, at least, remain unanswered. In 2008, astronomer Dave Reneke argued that the Star of Bethlehem (a celestial event long associated with Jesus' birth) may have been Venus and Jupiter coming together to form a bright light in the sky. Other researchers have claimed that a similar conjunction between Saturn and Jupiter occurred in October of 7 B.C. Still others have claimed that Jesus was born in the spring, based on stories about shepherds watching over their flocks in fields on the night of Jesus' birth — something they would have done in the spring, not the winter.
