Every year, Black Friday is an opportunity just before Christmas to bag a bargain across thousands of brands.

With deals from major retailers such as John Lewis & Partners, Argos and Asos (as well as lots more), it historically gets bigger every year, so 2020’s is set to be the biggest sale yet.

Traditionally, Black Friday began as just one day of discounts, which was celebrated the day after Thanksgiving, but it now runs through to Cyber Monday of the following week. Many brands also release early-bird discounts and pre-sales in the weeks leading up to Black Friday, with Amazon launching deals as early as two weeks before.

Along with tech, kitchen gadgets, TVs and laptops, many beauty brands join in and you’ll see prices slashed across skincare, haircare, fragrance and make-up.

This year will be no different, with some of our favourite industry names like Charlotte Tilbury, Fenty Beauty, Clinique and Murad expected to participate again this year.

Rather than trawl through hundreds of pages of discounted items, we’ll be doing the hard work for you and bringing you the best deals to shop with the highest savings, so whether you’re shopping for yourself or others, you’re guaranteed to find something you need, want and deserve.

Our IndyBest team hand-picks every deal we feature. We may earn some commission from the links in this article, but our selections have been made independently and without bias. This revenue helps to fund journalism across The Independent.

Online beauty retailers had plenty of deals to snap up last year; Beauty Bay offered up to 50 per cent of certain products, Cult Beauty gave 15 per cent off purchases of £15 or more, 20 per cent off purchases of £75 or more, 25 per cent off purchases of £200 or more and 30 per cent off purchases of £500 or more. Look Fantastic also participated, giving 22 per cent off with the code “BLACKOUT".

Boots also had many great offers, with as much as 50 per cent off, which included it’s firm favourite own brand No7 and the newly stocked and much-hyped Fenty Beauty.

Marks & Spencer, an underrated treasure trove of beauty brands, also had 20 per cent off L'Occitane, Nuxe and Emma Hardie, and we’re certainly expecting something similar this year.

Brands who also took part, offered savings when shopping with them directly. Charlotte Tilbury had 40 per cent off many of its products and bundles, Clinique offered 20 per cent off at checkout along with up to 50 per cent off its Christmas gift sets, maing it easier and cheaper to get organised for Christmas.

Elsewhere, tanning brand Isle of Paradise gave customers 50 per cent of all its products site-wide, along with a free mental health and body confidence guide with every purchase.

Skincare brand Oskia offered 25 per cent off full-size products, and every year it donates 100 per cent of its profits to Bloody Good Period, a charity that delivers sanitary items to refugees and asylum seekers, which it is expected to continue doing this year too.

Subscription boxes also participated in last year’s sale, Birchbox offered 20 per cent off gift subscriptions, as well as 25 per cent off everything in its online shop.

Gossybox also launched a limited edition “Black Fri-Yay” box, which had 10 products from brands including Unicorn Cosmetics and Vitamasques for £10, though it was worth over £55.
