The best Father's Day presents for a car-mad dad

From concours d'elegance standard polishing kits to Kevlar-lined chinos and glow in the dark alloy wheel rim proctors, a roundup of some of the more interesting and exciting gifts on offer for Father's Day.

Hesketh Racing Chrono by Omologato

Designer watches, particularly those with an official automotive link can be prohibitively expensive. But at £250 ($360) the new limited edition Hesketh Racing Chrono by Omologato is a relative bargain. Created to mark the 40th anniversary of British driver James Hunt's first and only Formula One driver's championship (the basis for the Ron Howard film "Rush") the watch's design is inspired by the Hesketh racing car in which young Hunt made his name before moving to McLaren in 1976 and clinching the title. But you'll have to move fast, production is capped at just 200 examples.

Piloti driving shoes
Even if your father's car isn't the fastest or most powerful, a pair of driving shoes could make him feel like he's in control. Piloti driving shoes come in formal, casual and serious track-day styles but they all boast the same ‘roll control' heel that takes the pain out of feathering the throttle heel-toeing. Prices start at $150.

Richa Hammer Jeans
For fathers that favor two wheels over four, Richa's new summer range of stylish but safe motorcycle wear includes Aramid-lined Hammer jeans for around $120 and, for more formal occasions, Brooklyn chino-style trousers with a Kevlar lining and adjustable D3O knee protection for $240.

AlloyGator AlloyGators

If dad's an extrovert, AlloyGator may have just the thing -- glow-in-the-dark rim covers. Initially developed to protect expensive alloy wheel rims from scuffs and knocks, they're made from tough nylon and infused with a phosphorescent luminescent pigment that absorbs sunlight during the day in order to glow at night.
AlloyGators need to be fitted by a garage but are available to fit alloy wheels from 13-21-inches and prices start at $100 for a set of four.

Armor All cleaning products

For an all-round automotive glow, day or night and for a gift that really won't break the bank, Armor All's award-winning polishes, paint protection treatments, interior cleansers and windshield cleaners are tough to beat and products cost from as little as $9.99 for individual products.

Autoglym Perfect Bodywork, Wheels and Interior Gift Collection

Or for those that can't afford to buy their dad a new car but want to offer him that new car feel, Autoglym, the company entrusted to detail the rare and often priceless vehicles on show at various Concours d'Elegance, offers a special Perfect Bodywork, Wheels and Interior Gift Collection set. For around $90-$100 you get nine carefully selected products for treating everything from glass to paintwork, vinyl and rubber, plus applicators, cloths and even a detailed guidebook all packaged in a special carrying case.
